What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)? DEF is a non-toxic, colorless, and odorless solution that consists of 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. It is commonly known by its trade name AdBlue® in Europe. The primary purpose of DEF is to reduce the emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) produced by diesel engines, which are major contributors to air pollution.
